Our Mission

The purpose of the Connecting to Parliament project is to link a representative sample of constituents with their elected official in productive town hall conversations about the issues that are subject to parliamentary debate in Australia. The project seeks to involve more Australians in the democratic process, and to expand knowledge about the potential benefits and uses of deliberative democracy.

How It Works

  1. Constituents are sent invitations to participate in a deliberative town hall with their elected official.
  2. After registering to participate on our online portal, participants are provided brief material on the issue prior to the town hall.
  3. A 90 minute conversation is hosted between constituents and their elected official.
  4. Constituents are asked to fill out a survey and if they would be available to have a brief conversation with our research team.
